Your Coach: Joe Casey
Joe’s an executive coach who also helps people create meaningful lives after they graduate from their primary careers. Traditionally, we’ve called that retirement. But today with “retirements” often lasting 20 to 30 years or more, it’s an opportunity to pivot to a new life beyond the world of full-time work.
As a Certified Designing Your Life coach, Joe is trained to help people discover a new direction which offers new purpose and greater meaning. He helps people who are retiring – but aren’t done yet – figure out What’s Next? blending imagination and pragmatic experimentation.
It’s not theoretical for Joe. He’s done this himself, becoming a coach 12 years ago after a 26-year career at Merrill Lynch, where he was Senior Vice President and Head of HR for Global Markets and Investment Banking. Joe’s earned three Masters degrees and was trained as a certified coach at Columbia University.
Business Insider named Joe as one of 23 innovative coaches who are making a difference. He hosts The Retirement Wisdom Podcast, ranked in the top 1% of podcasts in popularity globally according to Listen Notes, with over 1.4 million downloads.

What Others are Saying about the Program
“Joe Casey is an excellent coach with years of experience in corporate HR and in executive and transition coaching. He truly understands what’s involved in creating a new life after a corporate career. His thought-provoking coaching and guidance inspired me to think bigger and differently about my future. The Designing Your Life process was a gamechanger for me. I’ve already recommended him to several friends who are thinking about retiring and doing something different.”
“While I was looking forward to retirement, I have to admit I was also afraid. I was unsure about what life would be like and I was concerned by what I saw happening to some colleagues after they retired. The Designing Your Life process was hugely helpful. It helped me envision a new lifestyle and consider possibilities that weren’t anywhere on my radar. I couldn’t be happier with the mix of things I’m doing now. I couldn’t have arrived at this place without Joe’s coaching and the program.”
“I’m indebted to Joe Casey for his tremendous insights and guidance through the Designing Your Life process. His insights, candor and pragmatism were invaluable in helping me create a path forward for retiring at 60. The program really helped me mentally, emotionally and physically prepare for what’s turning out to be a great new phase of life. It helped me make a smoother transition than I was expecting. It gave me clarity and confidence.”
“The program was really great. I learned a lot and I appreciated the homework and follow up. It really made you ‘do’ something instead of just thinking about it.” |

“It was very positive, opening up my mind to new possibilities in a supportive environment with a helpful process to execute a plan. I appreciate all the time you spent with us individually to coach us and how you always made yourself available to us. That meant a great deal to me, given your busy schedule. I also felt your facilitation was par excellence, giving everyone a chance to react and make comments to what they were experiencing and debriefing all the exercises and homework. Thank you for a very meaningful experience…”
“I extend my deepest gratitude to you, Joe. Thank you so much for including me in this journey. It has truly been a transformative experience in my life.”
